Hampr, a Lafayette, LA based startup, announced that it has entered the last mile delivery service business with the launch of Presto Health, which is currently in the pilot phase. Last-mile delivery is the logistics for the transport of products from a transport hub to the final destination, the customer.
With its scheduled launch in Lafayette, La. By the end of this year, Presto Health Service, with the direction and support of Lafayette General Health (LGH), will deliver same-day prescriptions to patients in the local service area from the Lafayette General Medical Center.
The benefit of last mile delivery is that medication can be dispensed the same day after hospital discharge, a telemedicine visit, a primary care visit, an emergency room visit, an emergency care or clinic visit. "The possibilities are endless," said Laurel Hess, founder and CEO or hampr.
"When we were approached by LGH to provide prescriptions, we found that we had indeed built a world-class flexible last mile delivery platform that is perfect for a wide variety of use cases." Said Hess. According to the company, the opportunity for this type of last mile delivery service can extend beyond pharmacy delivery to include phlebotomy, drug delivery, small long-life medical devices, and more.
And hampr is no stranger to delivery services. When hampr was launched in January 2020, the company offered an on-demand mobile app for laundry delivery services.
“Whenever we have the opportunity to support and promote a local start-up, it is a win-win situation. We can help shape and guide our supply partner, improve the local economy by creating jobs, and help Lafayette further diversify into the healthcare and technology industries, ”said Cian Robinson, executive director of innovation, research and real estate investments at Lafayette General Health Systems.
Last mile delivery service is the latest healthcare trend that is evolving with telemedicine and other trends.
