Florida Hotel Vacancy August 2020
by Donna Coquilla
According to the latest Hotel Transaction Almanac from the Hotel Industry Association of America (HIAA), a hotel industry group, transactions in the US fell 74 percent in August. Chicago’s occupancy rates and repairs were essentially the same compared to the first week of the month, with room rents up 2.5 percent and room occupancy up 1.2 percent. Lost in this was a sharp drop in hotel rooms in Chicago, the city’s second-largest hotel market.
Miami hotels, which suffered from the rising number of Covid cases in Florida, also saw their occupancy rates drop 1.5 percent. New York pushed its hotel occupancy rate in the single digits for the first time this year in August. Governor Andrew Cuomo imposed a 14-day quarantine on visitors from many states, potentially hurting hotels.
Emergency Decree 26 – 20 also exempts from the lease of condominiums and hotel buildings. The ordinance also limits short-term rental occupancy and states that “no more than 1,000 units of short-term rental units may be registered monthly and no less than 2,500 units per month may be accepted for use in hotels and other hotels in New York.
Short-term holiday rentals, which are actively managed by a local owner – a management company – may not be operated with limited exceptions. Short-term holiday apartments managed and operated by a person who works full-time as an employee of a hotel or other hotel company or as a hotel employee are permitted, provided that certain requirements are met.
Public and private beaches may be closed for longer periods, starting or starting at 10: 00 a.m. on the first day of the holiday period. Facilities operating on or near public beaches, public parks and other public or private beach facilities may order immediate closure, as may all public and / or private hotels, restaurants or other facilities.
This excludes any part of the order that allows previously restricted shops or services to be reopened. The Miami-Dade order does not require any stay – at home if not – essential business to be closed. If there are many places to visit and many areas where hotels and corporate offices have sprung up, you will find that there is no shortage of hotels, restaurants and other shops in the area, even if they are closed for a certain period of time, such as a few days or weeks.
There are also hotels, restaurants, bars and other shops such as restaurants and bars serving guests in the same area.
The more prominent companies on the board include Marriott, Hilton, Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Hyatt Regency and Marriott International. Hotel Reviews for destinations worldwide are listed as “Hotel Repetitions” in the Florida Hotel Vacation Vacations August 2020 list, although most of the hotels listed are outside the United States. All vacation rental owners and managers must report to the Office of Occupational Safety and Health (OHSH) of the U.S. Department of Labor every two months, including the number of rooms available for rent in their property. In addition, a person must stay at least 30 days in a Florida hotel to provide or maintain basic services and activities.
The amendment entered into force on 4 July 2020 and will remain in effect until the local state of emergency expires or is otherwise ended. Broward County Councilwoman Bertha Henry has issued emergency ordinance 20-23, extending the curfew that began at 11 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2019, and will continue through midnight and until 11 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2018. The order will remain in effect for the duration of the emergency and expire at midnight on the expiry date, except in the event of an existing emergency or local emergency.
From Monday, August 3, 2020, 11 p.m. and until 11 a.m. the next day, all restaurants on the premises and all seats for no more than eight people will close at midnight, except in an emergency.
On August 20, Mayor Kerner issued a statement about the continued state of emergency in Palm Beach County, extending it until August 28, 2020. Governor DeSantis issued an executive order that could extend the Phase 1 reopening to Broward and Miami-Dade counties. Councilwoman Bertha Henry issued an emergency ordinance Monday, August 3, 2019, imposing a 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. curfew in Browards County. The curfew will be imposed across Miami Dades County, including the contiguous and uncontiguous areas, from July 3 and until 2020 and until the end of the emergency period. The order and curfew were lifted, as well as the imposition of an emergency curfew for Palm Beach County.
The order will be in effect until August 28, 2020, and until the end of the emergency in Broward and Miami-Dade counties.
The order includes a list detailed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and restricts basic services to hotels, restaurants, bars, retail stores and commercial businesses in Broward and Miami-Dade counties. The order defines “essential retail or trading transactions” as any non-essential business concluded on or after 19 March 2020 as essential retail and / or trading undertakings.
