The Los Angeles-based specialty beverage brand The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is expanding to New York. The first store opened on August 28th in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Fort Greene.
Hudson River Coffee & Tea franchisee plans to open a number of stores in the New York area before the end of the year, including a second location in Brooklyn.
The Fort Greene store has a lounge and outdoor dining area. Customers can shop safely with limited contact procedures amid the coronavirus pandemic. You can order in advance with The Coffee Bean Rewards App or order delivery with services such as Postmates and DoorDash.
The store's offerings include typical drinks such as coffee, tea and lattes, as well as pastries and other foods that are STAR-D Kosher Dairy certified.
Peter Vavra, director of franchise operations at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, said the brand continues to see steady growth despite the uncertainty of current events.
“New York City is a competitive and desirable market for any coffee merchant. Our opening today in New York underscores our commitment to bringing our beloved drinks to more guests and demonstrates our strength as the leading coffee and tea roaster and retailer, ”said Vavra.
The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has 225 stores in 11 states and more than 1,094 locations in 30 countries.
The brand claims to be the first global coffee and tea retailer to offer cold brewed tea and claims to have pioneered its original ice blended drink.
Mark Feit, development director for Hudson River Coffee & Tea, said the opening was an exciting move for New York.
"The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf brand has been serving innovative and popular beverages for nearly 60 years. We are thrilled that New Yorkers can now enjoy them too," said Feit.
