The Horizon Cabins form a neighborhood in Summit Powder Mountain, a 10,000 acre settlement in Powder Mountain that laid the foundation stone in 2017. This ski-in-ski-out house, one of 14 that have been completed so far (it will eventually be 30), is to be sold with its furnishings. It is at an altitude of 9,000 feet, about 60 miles north of Salt Lake City International Airport and 80 miles northwest of Park City.
Designed by Brian MacKay-Lyons, a Canadian architect, the Horizon cabins are positioned near their neighbors for socializing (the project emerged from Summit, an event conference, and community) but are focused on the privacy of views and the Appreciation focused on sunsets. As a group, this house will be closest to a clubhouse that foundation work has commenced and a ski beach, outdoor social area with a fire pit and heat lamps.

Inside: Like all buildings in this steep and often snow-capped community, the cedar-sided hut on the upper level is accessed via a bridge. Inside there is a living room with radiation-heated dark concrete floors; a vaulted cedar-paneled ceiling; a super efficient wood stove; and walls made of triple-glazed glass imported from Finland. A ladder attached to a metal lath wall rises to a loft with a low ceiling. On the other side is a white kitchen with quartzite and subway tile surfaces and a five-burner gas range. There is also a powder room and laundry room.
The lower level contains a large, minimal master bedroom with cedar paneling and an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower with a window. Two smaller bedrooms share a bathroom with two sinks and a bathtub with shower head.
Outside space: A covered terrace off the living room has a built-in barbecue. The building stands on short stilts that minimize the environmental impact and make it look like it is floating on snow. (In the spring, the area is covered with wildflowers. Once development is complete, it will be backfilled with evergreen trees.) The unit has one indoor and one outdoor parking space in a communal garage. 34 miles of hiking, mountain bike and ski slopes follow.
