The copyright alternative in the Small Claims Enforcement Act of 2019 was incorporated into law on December 27. The CASE Act fulfills the US Copyright Office's longstanding goal of creating a small claims court. The move entrusts the office with setting up the Copyright Claims Board and enacting applicable regulations next year. Damage is capped at $ 15,000 per work and a total of $ 30,000 per case, with modest attorney fees incurred in malicious cases. The defendants are also given 60 days to dismiss a complaint in the tribunal.
