'I Am Not the Attorney General': Bad News for Lawyer-Plaintiff in Consumer Fraud Action

A New Jersey judge dismissed a lawsuit alleging that baldness remedy was ineffective after the alleged class attorney appointed himself class representative.

The lawsuit was dismissed because the plaintiff alleged that the Re-Nourish product did not stimulate hair growth, even though he had never used it himself. The attorney alleged that a consumer product made claims in advertising that had not been substantiated by research, but that type of claim was reserved for the attorney general, the court said.
