On Tuesday, August 8th, 2021, NAR formally requested the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to include appraisers and their representatives in the upcoming meetings of the Interagency Task Force on Property Assessment Valuation Equity (PAVE).
NAR takes fair living issues seriously and supports the assessment and handling of concerns about discrimination in the assessment process. Ensuring that all relevant parties, especially appraisers and their representatives, participate in the conversation is key to developing a safe and sound path on this matter. Appraisals are an integral and long-term component of the real estate transaction and offer all parties a secure basis for the valuation of a property.
