McDonald's Settles Some of the First Workers' Lawsuits Over COVID-19 Protections

McDonald’s Corp. resolved some of the earliest public harassment lawsuits in the country filed by workers over COVID-19 protection.

One of the lawsuits, filed on May 19, 2020, alleged that McDonald’s failed to provide workers at four restaurants in Chicago with adequate COVID-19 protection. The case prompted a judge to issue an injunction against McDonald’s, a ruling cited by attorneys suing other companies such as meat processor Smithfield Foods over COVID-19 protection.
